100 percent Hondarribi Zuri from low-yielding vines, dry farmed. Free run juice only, aged six months on the fine lees. Firm acidity is compensated by intensive salt/lemon/herb aromatics and a long, extractive finish. Calls for a second glass, incomparably highlights fresh seafood/sushi and goes amazingly well with foie gras

K5 Argiñano Txakolina (2015) - "A different take on hondarrabi zuri, this ages on its lees for 11 months, developing a veil of spice aromas, dried fruits and honey. Behind it, however, there is acidity that explodes in the mouth, refreshing everything in its path, highlighting more vibrant flavors of lime and minerals. "

K5 Argiñano Txakolina (2013) - "Bright straw. Vibrant, mineral-laced citrus and orchard fruit aromas are underscored by a suave floral quality and a hint of anise. Dry and racy on entry, then fleshier in the mid-palate, offering bitter lime pith and quinine flavors and a deeper note of fresh pear. Finishes stony and long, with resonating florality and very good persistence."

K5 Argiñano Txakolina (2012) - "(100% Hondarrabi Zuri): Pale yellow. Pungent citrus pith and green apple scents, along with suggestions of white pepper and ginger. Fleshy but dry and incisive, offering intense lemon and lime flavors and a deeper note of fresh fig. Shows excellent clarity on the dusty, mineral-driven finish. "

K5 Argiñano Txakolina (2011) - "This is a zinger that shows off the core characteristics of the Hondarrabi Zuri grape. The bouquet is minerally and citric, with apple and pear aromas for added weight. The palate is tight, lemony and strict, with lemon, orange and pineapple flavors. While there is a lot of acid to this wine, it's structured and loaded with crisp, oceanic flavors. Drink with seafood and salads."

K5 Argiñano Txakolina (2010) - "The 2010 Txakoli K5 was delicious, light in alcohol with lots of trapped CO2, fresh grapefruit notes and a personality similar to a Portuguese Vinho Verde."

Overview: K5 Argiñano is a modern vineyard estate located on a hillside near the Basque village of Aia at 1000 feet above sea level overlooking the Cantabrian seaports of Zarautz and Orio. Founded in 2005 by Spanish celebrity chef Karlos Argiñano and four partners, the objective is to showcase the noble and age worthy quality of the indigenous Hondarribi Zuri and its ability to produce extractive, super-dry, mineralic whites worthy of the finest table. The ultra modern, gravity-flow bodega (designed by the famous architectural firm Alonso & Balaguer) is ideally matched to its environment and offers fabulous views of the surrounding countryside and seacoast. Thirty-eight acres of Hondarribi Zuri are dry farmed in slate and granite soils with yields limited to under 2 kilos per vine. To compensate extremely low pH levels, the wine is aged six months on the fine lees for complexity. There is no better match for the elegant simplicity of Basque seafood cuisine.
